Lots of anti-MAGA types claim that America is no longer a land of unsurpassed opportunity. They cite statistics showing that a child’s chances of getting ahead here are far less than in many other countries. They compare us to places where governments force citizens to get socialized medical care rather than exercise their freedom to fall ill and die.
And they ignore Rudy Giuliani.
Yes, he was once the leading contender for the Republican nomination for president. And before that he was America’s Mayor. And before that he was a top Justice Department official.
But look what he’s been up to lately. Then dare tell me that America is no longer the Land of Opportunity.
Over the past few years, Rudy seized the chance to consort with various shady characters in order to chase a looney conspiracy theory that helped get his client/president impeached.
And only last month, he appeared in a popular film that depicted him as, at the very least, a dirty old man.
And not even a week ago, he was at the Four Seasons (Total Landscaping), giving a press conference next door to a porn store and across the street from a crematorium, alleging voter fraud. For a penetrating perspective on the event, check out this interview with the porn store owner.
What’s more, Rudy’s press conference featured a speaker who is a convicted sex offender and constant candidate for various New Jersey elected offices.
Yes, the United States may not boast as many rags-to-riches stories as it once did.
But we still produce people like Rudy, whose association with Donald Trump takes them from political riches to reputational rags.
Only in America!

Thanks for that run down. Amazing the way some people choose to blunt their moral compass.

Entrapment!

In the immortal words of Little Richard:
“Tutti frutti, oh Rudy
A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo”
Rudy’s supplying us with lots of laughs these days. Too bad he’s in bed with a prez who is distinctly not funny!

Hey Steve,
Maybe I’m misreading this somehow. But didn’t you mean MAGA types (not anti-MAGA) in the first sentence?

I did mean anti-MAGA in what seems to be my inadequate attempt at irony and satire. I’ll try to do better next time!
